Marine Services

Our vessels can be privately hired to do survey work. In the past we have done surveys and ground sampling projects for Clean Coasts Ireland, the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group and Mayo County Council. We offer deployment & recovery of moorings, boats under 10 tonnes and pontoons. Boat storage is available both indoors and outdoors, all year around for boats that are 5-8 metres in size.

May-Sept 2025 Boat-based Visual Surveys for Bottlenose Dolphins in the West Connacht Coast SAC

We provided vessel charter and operational support to the Irish Whale & Dolphin Group for boat-based visual surveys along the northern component of the West Connacht Coast SAC. Survey transects totalled approximately 50 nautical miles (90 km), extending from Erris Head to Blacksod Pier. The project employed photo-identification methods of the dorsal fin of bottlenose dolphins to accurately estimate their population in order to contribute to ongoing marine mammal research and conservation efforts.

Aug 2025 Boat Transfer for Archaeological Survey on the Inishkea Islands

We provided personnel and equipment transfer for an archaeological survey on the Inishkea Islands from Blacksod Pier. Our team facilitated safe and efficient transfers of survey personnel and equipment to and from the islands, enabling efficient fieldwork in a challenging offshore environment.

Jun - Aug 2024 Vessel & Equipment Hire for the Restoration of an Early Christian Stone Slab on Inishkea South

Vessel charter, equipment hire, and operational support were provided for a project on Inishkea South involving the restoration of the Early Christian stone slab in the cillín. Undertaken by the Heritage Council in partnership with Mayo County Council, the project has significantly enhanced the condition of this important example of Early Christian Irish art.

Oct 2023 Recovery & Re-Deployment of AutoNaut Vessel

We conducted the recovery of an AutoNaut unmanned surface vessel off the coast of Blacksod following a long-duration autonomous deployment from Oban, Scotland. Once recovered, the vessel underwent maintenance works with its operators. After the maintenance works were completed, we redeployed the vessel to continue its journey to Wales.

2023 Navigation Survey of Achill Island Sound with Mayo County Council

We provided RIB charter services to Mayo County Council to support a detailed navigation survey from Bulls Mouth through Achill Sound. Operations included transiting under Achill Island’s bridge, demonstrating our capability to safely conduct survey work in complex coastal and tidal environments.

Capturing footage of the Erris Coastline

This project involved private hire of our vessel ‘MV Kea Josh’ by Mayo County Council to capture drone footage of the Erris Coastline, including Eagle Island, Erris Head and Blacksod Bay.

2024 Hydrophone Recovery from the AMETS Test Site Using Acoustic Release System

‘MV Kea Josh’ was hired in the retrieval of a hydrophone instrument from the seafloor at the AMETS Test Site about 8nm off Annagh Head, Belmullet.
